The tabla is one of the instruments used on Hindustani music. This genre originated from the north of India. Like carnatic music,its counterpart in the south of India, it follows the melodic scale that consists of seven notes i.e called Raga, and the ability to freely improvise the music.


     The tabla consists of two druns- daya and baya. The daya is the smaller drum of the two. It is made of wood. The baya is left- hand drum.


Just as hoe many notes makes up a song, many instruments make Hindustani music beautiful. Along with the tabla, the other instruments are the sitar, the sarod the sarangi and the shehnai
